Joint funded by the client and Department of Communities and using a Design & Construct Contract, GEDA Construction and McAdam successfully developed the detailed design of the works including the eye-catching red concrete ‘wave’ which reflects the beautiful sea-view backdrop whilst offering a strong and durable slip-resistant finish, new high quality stone kerbs, road re-surfacing and diversion of underground services, landscaping, drainage, refurbished steps and access to Harbour Hill from the Promenade area, interpretive and directional signage, enhance/upgrade pedestrian guard rails, lighting and street furniture.

The refurbishment of the promenade has helped sustain Portstewart as a key year-round tourism destination on Northern Ireland's spectacular north coast. The subtle nature of the design and high quality materials used, help provide an aesthetically pleasing, yet resilient finish which has been acknowledged by recent CEEQUAL and Irish Concrete Society Awards.
