Project Summary

In 2014, McAdam Design where appointed as lead consultant by McLaughlin & Harvey to deliver an extension to the Belfast Waterfront Hall. Working from an exemplar design provided by Belfast City Council (prepared by Todd Architects) we collaborated closely with the construction team to review, revise, and ultimately deliver this iconic project within a very tight budget. Technically very challenging the new scheme seamlessly integrates with the much-loved Belfast Waterfront Hall whilst also addressing an important frontage onto the River Lagan. Linked to the adjacent Hilton Hotel the completed scheme provides a much larger state-of-the art conference facility which has attracted additional conventions / exhibitions to Belfast, resulting in significant economic benefits.

The project was designed and delivered with no disruption to the main Waterfront Hall, which had various events organised through-out the construction period. Finally, there where key funding milestones with a fixed completion date giving a very tight construction programme of less than 18 months, all of which were met with the extension delivered on time.
