Project Summary

Meadow Lane WwTW in Portadown required upgrades due to ageing infrastructure, including existing pumps and control assets which dated back to pre-1975. Frequent maintenance issues, dry well flooding and the station’s location within a high flood risk area added urgency to the project.

Key work in this significant infrastructure upgrade included key works included the construction of a new inlet chamber, wet well, pumping station, and 1500m3 storage tank. The upstream network was also upgraded including a 380m long, 1500mm diameter tank sewer installed 7m underground, facilitating the closure of five unscreened combined sewer overflows (CSOs).

McAdam undertook the feasibility assessment and design for the scheme and the Project Management of the construction phase.

Benefits

Immediate environmental benefits include reduced spill frequency and volume into the Upper River Bann and Annagh River, improving local water quality and flood resilience. This upgrade will help support development and aid economic growth in the catchment.
