Blacks Gate Regeneration Project

Radius Housing

Client: Radius Housing

Completion: 2018 to present

Value: £23m

Project Summary

McAdam are working with Radius Housing to transform the former 21.5-acre Visteon car manufacturing site into an exemplar urban village of 244 high-quality sustainable homes. This site is one of the largest and most geographically prominent brownfields in the greater Belfast area and had been vacant since 2013. McAdam provides a full Project Management Consultancy Service including Contract Administration & Specialist Procurement Advice.

The range of house types will include 2 and 3 bedroom family dwellings, designed to meet the needs of specific residents plus a small number of apartments interspersed throughout the development. Private/affordable family housing will promote a mixed tenure, balanced community. This housing will help stimulate the housing market with affordable properties available to first time buyers through shared equity/co-ownership schemes and outright purchase. An approximate 80/20 split between social and private/affordable housing will be achieved on site, with density in keeping with the character and context of surrounding housing areas.

The dwellings have been designed to the highest Sustainable Standards which includes BRE Code for Sustainable Homes; the latest Life-Times Homes Standards and PSNI Secured by Design Standards. The resultant schemes provide an adaptable, safe, and secure living environment.
