The existing Ballyronan WWTW was failing with the population in the area having exceeded the design potential of existing assets. With future growth predicted NI Water commissioned an extensive upgrade to provide effective wastewater treatment for the current population and provide scope for future growth in the area.

McAdam completed the civil, structural and hydraulic design of the new 1500 PE works including inlet works, storm storage tanks, Primary Settlement tanks, Rotating Biological Contactors, Final Settlement Tanks, sludge storage and associated site access roads and services.  Much of the works was constructed around the existing works with phasing critical as new elements gradually replaced old.
