Bushmills / Portballintrae WwTW

Bushmills and Portballintrae, two of the most popular tourist locations in Northern Ireland, are set to benefit from a multi million pound wastewater treatment project currently being undertaken by NI Water.

The project will rationalise and upgrade the existing collection and treatment systems and improve the quality of bathing and fishing waters in the area.

At the heart of the £6.5M scheme is the construction of a new wastewater treatment works at Bushmills to replace the existing overloaded facility. In an overhaul of the existing systems, new pipework will also be laid to convey all wastewater from Portballintrae to the new Bushmills works and sufficient storm storage will be provided to limit storm spills to nearby designated beaches.

McAdam Design is providing technical and project management support to NI Water on this 18 month contract.
